Cheryl and I took a survey trip in September to Timor Leste to meet the pastors, leaders, and Nazarenes there, and to get acquainted with the country and ministry. During that time, the Sealands Field hosted a seminar on the Occult. This is especially relevant for Timorese culture, and helpful for our participants.
We are pleased to announce that our next Home Assignment beginning Spring 2018. March, April, and May we will be touring the US, sharing about our new assignment in Timor Leste and seeking people, churches, and organizations willing to partner with us financially in this important work.
It had been too long since our last blog post. Please forgive us for the lull in communication, but we have a good reason. Earlier this summer, we were asked to consider a new assignment to the country of Timor Leste. We accepted the assignment, but it required a few months of planning and preparation before we could make an official announcement. We like to officially announce that our family will be moving to Timore Leste in June 2018 to oversee the work there.
The last 6 months could only be described as a “season of conferences”. We began in July with an NYI conference for the largest district on our field. Over 200 youth (aged 13-30) gathered for a time of worship, leadership development, training, district elections, and fun.
But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving (2 Cor. 8:7).
Our “global service” is only possible because of God’s grace and the generosity of our financial and prayer partners. We also know that this generosity is not easy, but takes sacrifice and a steadfast commitment at times. This has become even more clear to us in the last few months.
