About Our Family

We are the Young Family, also knows as the “Steadfast Pilgrims”.  Our family serves as partner-funded “Global Servants” with the Church of the Nazarene in Timor-Leste.  What does it mean to be partner-funded Global Servants?  As Global Servants, we feel a calling to make Christlike disciples in the nations.  Our hearts beat and break for people living outside of our home country who have yet to become Christlike disciples of Jesus.  Because of this, our outlook has become “global” and our “service” has moved abroad to those in need.  We are Global Servants of Jesus and the Church of the Nazarene.  “Partner-funded” means that we depend on the direct financial partnership and prayer support of other generous Christlike disciples for the majority of the support we need to serve globally.

Our journey toward becoming partner-funded Global Servants began in 2003, while serving as pastors in the Church of the Nazarene.  Our family felt a distinct call to make Christlike disciple in the nations, not just our home country.  The calling took some time to evolve into what it is today, but after 12 years in pastoral ministry, we left the United States for our first global assignment.  That was 2011.  Today, we are still going strong, and are thankful for the meaningful global service God has invited us to participate in.  We are also deeply grateful for each and every partner and prayer warrior that makes our global service possible.
